Story & A Song

COMING WINTER SESSION 2024

Pre-K: Ages 3.5 to 5 year olds

Join us for this music and movement class! Storytelling will be at the forefront we work together to dramatize stories through song – a wonderful way to play, learn and grow creatively. Each week is a new adventure in dramatic play and creativity. Move to the beat of fun music and take on characters like animals and fairy tale friends.

Creative Dramatics

Voice, Body and Imagination – the ” Actor’s Tools” – with them you can create theatre anywhere! Our Creative Dramatics Programs are for young people grades K-3. Through creative theatre games and story dramatization, children will explore their imaginations, develop storytelling, pantomime and movement skills sharpening their creativity, improving their self-confidence and learning the importance of teamwork. Above all, our youngest performers will enjoy becoming part of the magic that we create in our classroom.

Puppetry Workshop

Grades 2 to 6

Have you ever wanted to be a puppeteer? Join us for this fun-filled puppetry workshop where you will learn about the fundamentals of puppetry!  Over the course of four sessions, students will learn how to make puppets and a puppet theatre from common household items, bringing their puppets to life through breath, focus, and weight. They will explore not only how to create puppet stories in their own homes, but how to use storytelling and collaboration skills to create puppet stories with their peers through Zoom.

Have you ever wanted to write your own play? Explore the special skills needed to write for the stage.  From monologues to adaptations to original scripts, classes will offer writing exercises, prompts, and workshop opportunities for students to create and share their creative work in the company of other student writers who will provide feedback and suggestions.  Students will hone their talents and complete several scenes and scripts for their writing portfolios. This 10-week session will culminate in a sharing of highlighted work utilizing student performers.

Improv

6th-8th Grade

Have you ever watched an improv group and thought “How do they do that?”  The skills needed are teachable, and what you learn from improv can be used on and off stage! In this class, students will learn the fundamental rules of improvisational performance. Each student will have the opportunity to workshop their skills in an open, welcoming, “no-bad-ideas” environment. Learn how trusting your instincts, listening to your scene partners and working collaboratively can create surprising (and often hilarious) results.

HS Acting Ensemble

COMING WINTER SESSION 2024

9th-12th Grade

Create, Act and Perform! Sharpen your Acting skills as you collaborate with your peers in our High School Acting Ensemble Class. Students become the theatre-makers as they devise their own original performance piece. This collective, creative process of theatre-making in which the script originates through improvisational work is a great way to hone students’ acting and collaborative skills. This class will culminate with a performance of students’ original scripted piece on our stage.

Coaching lessons are available to students for VOICE LESSONS, ACTING THROUGH SONG, AUDITION PREPARATION, VOICE-OVER and MONOLOGUE COACHING.

Coaching sessions are available in 30 or 60 minute sessions. We offer the option of single and 5 week sessions. For scheduling and costs please email Lori Lawrence, Director of Educational Programming at llawrence@growingstage.com.

REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY:

Refunds are available up through the start of the first class.  If cancellation takes place anytime thereafter, students are not eligible for a refund.

* Coaching Cancellation Policy: 

Refunds are only available if the session is cancelled 24 hours prior to the scheduled time. If a student misses their scheduled coaching session or contacts us within the 24 hour period, they will not be eligible for a refund.

Ticketing System

  • Main Stage Performances are normally Saturdays at 4:00PM and Sunday at 2:00PM. Friday performances are on a limited basis at 7:30pm.
  • Studio Series Performances: Thursday/Friday at 7:30PM, Saturday at 4:00PM and Sunday at 2:00PM.
  • PLEASE NOTE: Local Flavor Coupons and Groupons cannot be redeemed online.  You must call the Box Office to reserve and redeem. Box Office is open daily Monday thru Friday from 10:30am to 3:00pm. Please call at least 24 hours prior to redeem.
  • Seating begins 30 minutes prior to each performance. If you select Will Call as your ticket delivery method, your tickets will be available for pick up starting an hour prior to the performance.
  • Seating is general admission except for season ticket holders and groups of 10 or more.
  • Sales are final and no refunds will be given unless the performance is cancelled. If you are unable to attend, please contact the Box Office and we will do our best to accommodate you at a different performance based on availability.
  • Concessions will be available for sale before the performance and during intermission. Outside food and drink is not allowed.
  • Parking is available in the bank parking lot next to the theatre (when the bank is closed), the park lot behind the bank lot, and on the surrounding streets. If needed, overflow parking is available at the Methodist Church down the street.
