Dear Friends,
I regretfully must announce that this weekend’s performances of The Story of the Nutcracker have been canceled. As you know the COVID-19 pandemic continues in different forms and variations. Schools, work settings, and organizations much larger than ours continue to be directly impacted. Today we here at The Growing Stage are no different. This weekend we had a close contact situation within our cast that we needed to immediately address.
From the start over eighteen months ago, The Growing Stage has prioritized the safety and health of our artists, both child and adult, which is why we have decided that it’s necessary for us to cancel our final weekend of performances. Our priority is to protect the health and safety of our cast, staff, and patrons.
This new variant continues to be a risk and I cannot, in good conscience, put our box office ahead of how this may impact our artists, staff, patrons and their families during this holiday season. Please understand that this decision comes at a significant financial cost for us, over $7,000, but it is one that is supported by both the Board and staff of the Growing Stage.
While I wish I could welcome you back in person at the Historic Palace Theatre for this holiday production, I hope that you will consider supporting us during our season of giving by making a tax-deductible donation, allowing us to continue our mission into 2022.
While we ended our run earlier than planned, the opportunity to experience laughter and excitement from our young audiences and their families over these past 9 performances, motivates us to continue to provide high quality theatre for the entire family. I look forward to seeing you and your family soon at the Palace.
I wish you all a very safe, happy and healthy holiday season. 2022 will be better!
Best wishes,

Stephen L. Fredericks | Founder/Executive Director
