We’re Hiring: Production Stage Managers

The Growing Stage- The Children’s Theatre of New Jersey is seeking Non-Union stage managers to apply for available positions in our 2025-2026 season. Stage managers will report directly to Executive Director, Stephen L. Fredericks. Must have an interest in Theatre for Young Audiences, Theatre Education, or Teaching Artistry, as all stage management positions at The Growing Stage involve direct interaction with young performers and audiences. Paid position.

Requirements include, but are not limited to:

• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. 

• Computer literacy in Word, Excel, and Google Drive applications. 

• Previous experience with QLab.

• Have a proactive work ethic, paying attention to detail and follow-through in a timely fashion. 

• Maintains a professional demeanor. 

• Available to work nights and weekends, attending all rehearsals and performances. 

Compensation:

$17/hr for Rehearsals (includes 30 minutes before rehearsal begins)

(Rehearsal period is generally 4-5 weeks prior to performances.)

About The Growing Stage:

The Growing Stage Theatre is located in Netcong, New Jersey and no regular mass transportation is available. Own transportation is strongly recommended. Our company is housed in the Historic Palace Theatre, which was built in 1919 with an audience size of approximately 250. As The Children’s Theatre of NJ, our mission is to nurture the development of the performing arts through education — and to create, produce and perform works that engage the entire family.

Ticketing System

  • Main Stage Performances are normally Saturdays at 4:00PM and Sunday at 2:00PM. Friday performances are on a limited basis at 7:30pm.
  • Studio Series Performances: Thursday/Friday at 7:30PM, Saturday at 4:00PM and Sunday at 2:00PM.
  • Seating begins 30 minutes prior to each performance. If you select Will Call as your ticket delivery method, your tickets will be available for pick up starting an hour prior to the performance.
  • Seating is general admission except for season ticket holders and groups of 10 or more.
  • Sales are final and no refunds will be given unless the performance is cancelled. If you are unable to attend, please contact the Box Office and we will do our best to accommodate you at a different performance based on availability.
  • Concessions will be available for sale before the performance and during intermission. Outside food and drink is not allowed.
  • Parking is available in the bank parking lot next to the theatre (when the bank is closed), the park lot behind the bank lot, and on the surrounding streets. If needed, overflow parking is available at the Methodist Church down the street.
