Donald returns to The Growing Stage having appeared in our holiday production of THE LAND OF FORGOTTEN TOYS. We recently sat down with him to talk about his three roles in The Growing Stage’s World Premiere new play, MADDIE & ELEANOR!
Tell us a little bit about yourself. I was born and raised in Ohio. I fell in love with acting in the 5th grade and earned a B.F.A. In theatre performance from Ohio University.
Tell us about your role in Maddie & Eleanor.
I have 3, but the largest is Robert. He’s a young man who gets to work side by side the Eleanor Roosevelt while she speaks on the radio.
Were you a fan of Eleanor Roosevelt prior to this production?
Oh yes! She was very progressive, especially for her time.
What can audiences expect from seeing Maddie & Eleanor?
They can expect a show that is for the entire family to enjoy, come watch us play!
Do you have a favorite first lady? If so, who and why?
I think it’s hard to beat Eleanor Roosevelt. She fought for so many good causes, even when it was unpopular to do so.
What’s it like getting to work with this team at TGS?
I love working with TGS! I’ve done several shows with them. But this team is great, we have a lot of fun together. Going to rehearsal is a highlight of my day!
Fill in the blank: Maddie & Eleanor is…
A play that should have been written a long time ago. Everyone should know about Eleanor Roosevelt and all the good she did.
Don’t miss Donald and the entire company of MADDIE & ELEANOR, February 3-18!
